Hazrat Umar was a virtuous personality, who was craved by the Holy
Prophet (Peace be upon him) to the Almighty Allah for the strength of Islam. Hazrat Umar
Farooq (RA) was born in 584 in Macca city of Saudi Arabia. His father's name
was Khattab ibn Nufayl and his mother was Hantamah bint Hisham.
He was also
the father-in-law of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him). He was confined as
one of the best leading commanders and legend persons in the Quraish tribe and
fully believer of his ancestors’ religion. He was a strict and eremitical opponent
of Islam due to the unity of the Quraish Tribes. Once he became ready to slay
the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).
When he was
coming in the way, a person asked him, where he was going? Hazrat Umar replied
that he was going to assassinate the Holy Prophet. After that person said to
Umar that his sister along with her husband have already accepted Islam. He first
went to his sister’s home. After reaching there, he listened to the sound
coming out of his sister’s home. He entered home and severely asked his sister
what she was reciting? She replied to the Umar “we were reciting the Holy Qur’an”.
Hazrat Umar wanted to recite it and asked his sister to help so that he can
also recite it. She asked him for the ablution (Wazoo). Then Hazrat Umar (R.A)
recited it and got the light of Islam with the mercy of Almighty Allah.
After
embracing Islam by Umar (R.A) in 616 AD, Muslims openly prayed in Mecca. They read
Azaan freely. Before it, they worshipped Allah limited in their homes. Hazrat
Umar brought happiness and self-reliance to their atmosphere.
Hazrat Umar (R.A) became the 2nd caliph of Muslims after
the death of 1st Caliph Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A) on 23 August 634 He
was a strict and straightforward person in matters of religion Islam. He
conquered many territories and spread Islam far and wide in the world. His
tenure of Khilaafat was 10 years.
Hazrat Umar
got Martyred after completing his cessation of Khilaafat on 1st
Muharram-ul-Haraam, the first month of the Islamic Calendar by the Persian
slave Abu Lu'lu'a Firuz in 644. He is in rest with the Holy Prophet
(S.A.W) on the left of the Prophet’s grave in Medina.
