The daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ), the closest companion of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) born nine years before Hijra, was brought up in a highly modest and pious environment. She used to say that she couldn't remember her family not being Muslims or a day that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and her father didn't visit each other. She was married at the age of six in the 10th year of the Holy Prophet's mission, soon after the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) married Sauda, but the marriage was consummated in Medina three years later.
She was the only maiden he married. 'A'isha spent her youthful years in Holy Prophet's company and was able to get great spiritual benefit under her enlightened husband. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ)a had special love for 'A'isha and said: "A'isha enjoys superiority over all other women".
He also nicknamed her "Humaira". 'A'isha had a photographic memory, learned a lot from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), and eventually became an authority on Islam. It is said that amongst the Mothers of the Faithful, she was the most learned. In the battle of Uhad, she served water to the wounded and accompanied the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) in several battles as well as the Farewell Hajj.
Many verses were revealed about her. On one occasion, when Midianite
hypocrites made false allegations against her, the verses of Sura Nur(24:12)
were revealed, declaring her innocence. Verses about Tayyamum (dry ablution:
Sura Nisa 4:43), commandments about menstruation during Hajj, and many others
were also revealed on account of her.
The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) spent the last days of his life in Aisha's apartment and finally died in her arms. He is buried in her apartment. She spent the next 48 years of her life as an instructor of Islam, leaving behind countless students when she died in 58 AH (678 AD) and was buried in Jannat al-Baqi'. She narrated more than two thousand (2210) Ahadith. She is given the title "Mother of the faithful" by the Quranic verse,
"The Holy Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers..." (Sura Ahzab; 33:6).
