What is Quran?
Quran is the book of Allah; He
bestows his blessing in the shape of the Quran. It is a perfect guide and
complete code for humanity to live this life and earn the reward for their
hereafter. It is an exhaustive and most comprehensive book sent down to our
beloved prophet the last of all khatam ul Nabi.
Allah says in this glorious Quran:
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ. نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلْأَمِينُ
Which
the trustworthy spirit ˹Gabriel˺ brought down. into your heart ˹O Prophet˺—so
that you may be one of the warners. (Surah shura ayat 193,194)
This is evidence from the Quran
itself that it was bestowed upon Prophet Muhammad by the almighty with the
mission to guide and warn the people.
Quran repeals all books:
The holy prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the last prophet of Allah. Quran Pak revealed on Muhammad ﷺ. He is the; as a prophet
he cancels out all the prophets before him and the book revealed to him to
repeal all the sahifas and book reveal before it. Before Quran e Pak is the
most updated and complete code of life that was revealed to the last prophet of
Allah. That is why Muslims are prescribed to follow only the last book, yes, it
is right they should believe in the other prophet too but in the case of
following it is only the last prophet and the Quran prescribe for Muslims to
act upon. Similar is the case with the other heavenly book it is a must for a
Muslim to have a strong faith in all the heavenly books, but he must always
follow only the Quran e Pak.
Name of the Quran:
There are many different names of
the Quran which are mentioned in the Quran itself. Some of the names of the
Quran are
1. Al Quran
2. Al Furqan it means one that can
differentiate between right and wrong
3. Kitab means a book the word kitab
is the singular of Qutub means books
4. zikr means to give the good
council.
5. Noor means light which is
self-illuminating
6. Mushaf means a book in which
various sahifa has been compiled
Structure of Quran
Holy Quran has 30 paras with 7
stages (manzils), 114 surahs and 558 rukus.
Most scholars suggest that there are
540 rukus but the above-mentioned figure is written by actual counting of rukus
Arrangement of the Holy Quran
The Mushaf that we see today is not
the actual order that was revealed at the time of the prophet Muhammad ﷺ it was arranged later on
in the Khilafat period of hazrat abu bakr’s order to zaid ibn Thabit to compile
the Quran. The total period of the revelation of the Quran took about 23 years.
The arrangement of the Quran was not done itself but it was prerogative as
arranged by Muhammad ﷺ.
Preservation and custody of the
miraculous Quran:
This Is the only book whose guarantee
is taken by Almighty Allah himself. In the very first ayah of surah, Baqar
Allah says that there is no doubt in this book which means this book is so
authentic that the author (almighty Allah himself is taking responsibility for
its validity). No one on earth or in heaven can alter change, manipulate or
interpolate, this book because Allah has assured its security and preservation.
Allah says in the Quran surah Hijir
ayat no 9
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا ٱلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ٩
It is certainly We Who have revealed
the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.
So, it is upon Allah who safeguard
the Quran.
