The
rank of Prophethood
The ranks that Allah has given to men
are all very precious and great amongst them the highest ever rank that Allah
has bestowed upon men is the rank of Prophethood. It is the top most rank that Allah has given to His most beloved devotees.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has the highest character and conduct and he is on the highest
rank in this world which was given to him by the Creator of everything the
Almighty Allah. The Prophet of Allah never committed a single sin, his
character is even mentioned in the Quran how great his character as it’s at the
start of the surah Qalam. His thinking, his will, and his INS are all imbibed
by the will of Allah.
Some of the characteristics of prophets
are discussed as under:
Expounder of the book of Allah:
The prophet is not only assigned the
duty to read out the holy script to their followers, but every Prophet must
explain the message of Allah to every follower so that they can act upon it. Prophets
sometimes explain to their followers through speeches called hadiths and
sometimes it is even more important to act upon Allah's message to ensure that
the followers have got the true essence of the message bestowed on to them. It
is also commanded by Almighty Allah that the prophet must explain the message
to the follower so that they will not go astray. And it is mentioned in the
Quran surah Nahl ayah no 44
We
sent them˺ with clear proofs and divine Books. And We have sent down to you ˹O
Prophet˺ the Reminder, so that you may explain to people what has been revealed
for them, and perhaps they will reflect.
The authorized divine lawgiver
The last prophet of Allah, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is not only the messenger who just gives the message to the
people, but the prophet also has the authority to give and mandate the laws and
regulations, this authority is of course given to them by Allah, the orders of
prophet Muhammad ﷺ are the orders of Allah. That is why Allah has also mentioned
in the Quran that “what every Prophet gives you take it and whatever he forbids
you to stay away from that”. This authority is only given to the prophet
Muhammad ﷺ. So, what the prophet has made lawful, it is lawful and decent
and whatever he has made unlawful it is haram and prohibited, these injunctions
are not for the self-interest of the prophet Muhammad ﷺ while all the things
that the prophet of Allah has prescribed are good for the human beings.
Justice and absolute arbitrator
The prophet of Allah has a just
decision and these decisions are made according to the law of shariah. The
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ always makes the judgment in the light of the Quran and the
divine message that is revealed to him. The decision of the Prophet is not like
the decision of the common judge or magistrate and sometimes the people argue
and question that decision. The decision made by the prophet cannot be appealed
and questioned. If any of the believers hesitates to accept the judgment of
Allah which was given to them through the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ he could be turned into
a hypocrite or infidel. So it is a must to have full faith in the prophet of
Allah.
Conclusion
These were some of the qualities of
prophets. There are many others too and even some are so great that are beyond
our wisdom and power of intellect. These qualities make the prophet superior to
the other human being. Prophets are blessed with these qualities which is why
they are so strong and have strong faith in the message of Allah.
